The Classical Greek Advanced I class will meet on Saturdays from 12:00-13:00 (UTC, UK time), continuing with Greek to GCSE book 2 and Greek Beyond GCSE, both by John Taylor. The class is conducted via Zoom. The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.
You should already be familiar with all noun declensions, the active, passive and middle voice in the present, future, imperfect and aorist tenses, and contract verbs.
In this 12 week term we will expect to cover the following: irregular comparatives and superlatives; indirect questions; formation and use of the subjunctive mood; formation and use of the optative mood; conditional sentences; perfect and pluperfect tenses, and omicron contract verbs. Students will continue to learn about the Classical Greek world through translation of various passages adapted to their current level of grammar, as well as some unadapted texts.
Dates for the winter term are 15th, 22nd, 29th January, 5th, 12th February (NB no class on 19th February), 26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March, and 2nd April.
Fees are £77 for the term (11 weeks). Time: 12:00-13:00 (UK time). Tutor: Dr Eilidh Macleod.
