Meeting on Saturdays, 11:30-12:30 (UK time), this class continues with the basics of Classical Greek grammar using Greek to GCSE books 1 and 2 by John Taylor. The class is conducted via Zoom. The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.
You should already be familiar with first, second and third declension nouns, and verbs in the active voice in the following tenses: present, future, imperfect, and aorist.
In this 11 week term, the class will expect to cover present, future and aorist participles in the active voice; uses of αὐτος; dative of possession; the passive voice; middle voice and deponent verbs; demonstrative adjectives and pronouns; comparison of adjectives and adverbs; relative clauses, and result clauses. Throughout the course, students will continue to learn about the Classical Greek world through translation of various passages adapted to their current level of grammar.
Dates for the winter term are 15th, 22nd, 29th January, 5th, 12th February (NB no class on 19th February), 26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March, and 2nd April.
Fees are £77 for the term (11 weeks). Tutor: Helen McVeigh.
