This class is for complete beginners and starts with the alphabet. Commencing on 15th January 2024, the class will meet every Saturday at 15:30-16:30 (GMT/UK and Ireland local time). The class is conducted via Zoom.
Students should have access to Greek to GCSE book 1 by John Taylor (contact me if you have difficulty sourcing this). The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.
In this 9 week term, you will learn the Greek alphabet and the class will expect to cover the following grammar: present tense indicative, imperative and infinitive; first declension eta and alpha variants; second declension masculine and neuter forms; the definite article; prepositions, εἰμί present tense; the genitive sandwich construction; adjectives and adverbs, and the future, imperfect and aorist tenses.
Dates for the spring term are 13th January, 20th January, 27th January, 3rd February, (mid-term break on 10th February), 17th February, 24th February, 2nd March, 9th March, 16th March 2024.
