This class will meet on Saturdays, 13:00-14:00 (UK/Irelanld local time), using the Latin Beyond GCSE textbook. The class is conducted via Zoom. The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.
You should already be familiar with: all tenses in the Active and Passive voices; all noun declensions; conditional sentences; the Ablative Absolute; indirect statements and questions; basic uses of the Subjunctive mood; purpose and result clauses.
In this 10 week term, the class will expect to cover: a full review and consolidation of the grammar up to this point; further uses of the Subjunctive; sequence of tenses; future wishes; fear clauses; periphrastic future subjunctive. Students will continue to learn about the Roman world through translation of various passages adapted to their current level of grammar, as well as some unadapted texts.
Dates for the autumn term are 17th September, 24th September, 1st October, 8th October, 15th October, 22nd October (no class on 29th October), 5th November, 12th November, 19th November, and 26th November.
