This class will meet on Saturdays from 11:00-12:00 (UTC, UK time), continuing with Latin to GCSE book 2. The class is conducted via Zoom. The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.
You should already be familiar with: all verb tenses in both the Active and Passive voices; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd declension nouns and adjectives; basic conditional sentences; the Ablative Absolute; comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs.
In this 11 week term, the class will expect to cover more participles and their uses; deponent and semi-deponent verbs; 4th and 5th declension nouns; Indirect Statements; Purpose Clauses; Result Clauses; the Subjunctive in the Imperfect and Pluperfect tenses. Throughout the course, students will continue to learn about the Roman world through translation of various passages adapted to their current level of grammar.
Dates for the winter term are 15th, 22nd, 29th January, 5th, 12th February (NB no class on 19th February), 26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March, and 2nd April.
