Classical Greek: Intermediate III (Spring term)

Students will continue to learn Greek grammar. This term we will hope to cover the middle voice, deponent verbs, the passive voice in the future and aorist tenses, the genitive absolute construction.  

Course duration: 10 weeks, on Saturdays at 15:30 (GMT), from 10th January 2026.

Description

This class will meet online, on Saturdays at 15:30 (GMT), continuing with Greek to GCSE book 2, by John Taylor. The class is conducted via Zoom and will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.

You should already be familiar with all noun declensions, and the active, middle and passive voice in the present, and imperfect tenses.

In this 10 week term we will expect to cover the middle voice, deponent verbs, the passive voice in the future and aorist tenses, the genitive absolute construction, and reflexive pronouns.

Students will continue to learn about the Classical Greek world through translation of various passages adapted to their current level of grammar.

Dates for the spring term are Saturday 10th January, 17th January, 24th January, 31st January, 7th February, mid-term break 14th February, 21st February, 28th February, 7th March, 14th March, and 21st March 2026.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.

Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
