Description

This course examines the political, social, economic and religious history of the Late Roman Republic and the Early Empire over the years 133 BC to AD 68. These two centuries transform Rome from a powerful oligarchic city-state that dominated the Mediterranean into a monarchy that integrated and transformed the areas it conquered.
We will meet on Zoom on Thursdays, 18:00-19:30 (GMT) on 22nd January, 29th January, 5th February, 12th February, mid-term break 19th February, 26th February, 5th March, 12th March, and 19th March 2026.
Tutor: Dr Stephen Chappell.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.

Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
