New Year’s Resolutions

It’s that time of year, between Christmas and New Year, when no-one’s really sure what day it is. During the holidays my family and I have been enjoying time together, but the days mesh into one another and it’s hard to tell them apart.

With two days left in 2019 (I consulted the calendar to make sure), we look forward to the year to come, and consider new beginnings and how we can improve or reinvent ourselves. If you’re like me, you’ll make new year’s resolutions, such as to eat less chocolate, exercise a bit more. Also if you’re like me, the resolutions will last a couple of weeks max before I lapse into my old ways.

This year, my resolutions are a little different. Since I won’t be returning to the day job, my routine will change considerably. And there’s nothing like necessity to focus the brain and increase productivity. While I’ll still do the school run, instead of going to school myself, I’ll be planning classes, teaching Greek, and putting myself out there to find new students. My new year’s resolutions will be concerned with forming good habits and becoming organised, and doing my best not to procrastinate although eating more healthily wouldn’t go amiss!

But in the meantime, while we’re still in the no-man’s land that is the period between Christmas and new year, I’ll binge-watch Harry Potter movies with my daughter, while my husband plays Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and intermittently calls me to view his latest destination: he’s been in Thermopylae, Athens and Delphi.

Happy new year! What are your new year’s resolutions?
