Description
“Mad, bad, and dangerous to know.” Whilst this was the assessment of Lady Caroline Lamb about Lord Byron, it also suits a number of both mythological and historical figures from the classical world!
This 8-week course will examine a figure each week, including Roman emperor Elagabalus, Greek goddess Hera, and Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten – each week we’ll discuss the figure, using both ancient evidence and secondary source evaluation, and vote on what we think of them!
Participants will meet on Zoom, from 18:00-19:30 (GMT) on Wednesday 28th January, 4th February, 11th February, 18th February, mid-term break 25th February, 4th March, 11th March, 18th March, and 25th March 2026.
