Description

Tacitus as a Historian seeks to analyse and contextualise the foremost historian of the early Roman Empire.
In this 4-week course, we’ll read excerpts from various works and discuss influences, causation, speeches, characterisation, political views and assess his strengths and weaknesses.  There will be some lectures, but a great deal of discussion in a more seminar style of class.
We will meet on Zoom on Wednesdays, 19:30-21:00 (GMT+1) on Wednesday 7th May, 14th May, 21st May, and 28th May 2025.
Tutor: Dr Stephen Chappell.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.

Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
