Description
This 8-week course is aimed at those who have a good grasp of Latin grammar. Students will read and translate sections from Vergil’s Aeneid book 2 and explore the Vergilian themes embedded in the narrative.
The course will take students through the moment that the Trojans take the wooden horse into Troy to when the city is finally destroyed by the Greeks, culminating in the iconic moment of Aeneas leaving the city with his father, son and people.
Students will also explore the use of Vergil’s techniques and the themes he embeds throughout his narrative from nature, war and Roman propaganda.
Participants will meet on Zoom, on Tuesdays from 19:30-21:00 (GMT) on Tuesday 20th January, 27th January, 3rd February, 10th February, mid-term break 17th February, 24th February, 3rd March, 10th March, and 17th March 2026.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.
Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
