Description

This advanced Classical Greek class will meet on Saturdays from 17.00-18.00 (UK/Ireland time), using Greek Beyond GCSE by John Taylor. The class is conducted via Zoom. The class will require approximately 1-2 hours of independent study between each lesson.

You should already be familiar with all noun declensions, the active, passive and middle voice in the present, future, imperfect and aorist tenses, contract verbs, indirect statements, uses of the subjunctive and optative moods, the perfect and pluperfect tenses, -μι verbs, and verbs which take dependent participles.

This term, we will cover grammar from chapter 1 of the textbook, including more uses of the subjunctive and optative moods, and conditional sentences. Students will continue to learn about the Classical Greek world through translation of adapted passages and some unadapted texts.

Dates for the autumn term: Saturday 20th September, 27th September, 4th October, no class on 11th October, 18th October, 25th October, 1st November, no class on 8th November, 15th November, 22nd November, 29th November, and 6th December 2025.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.

Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
