Description
There’s no-one quite like Homer. And this online class is for anyone who loves the Odyssey and the Iliad. We are a group of Homer fans who enjoy exploring the language but also discussing the wider cultural context of the poems.
Of course, there’s nothing quite like reading the Homeric epics in the original Greek. You are welcome to join us whether you have never translated Homer before and would like to see how it’s done, or you already have some experience with translation of unadapted Greek.
We will continue reading Odyssey book 9 in the original Greek. The suggested text and commentary is by Geoffrey Steadman (free pdf download with additional resources).
The group will meet on Tuesdays from 16:00-17:00 (UK/Ireland local time) for 9 weeks on 14th April, 21st April, 28th April, 5th May, 12th May, mid-term break on 19th May, 26th May, 2nd June, 9th June, 16th June, 23rd June 2026.

The class will proceed subject to a minimum number of enrolments.
Cancellation policy: students will receive a full refund if the student cancels their registration more than two weeks before the class begins. Students will receive 50% refund if the student cancels their registration 8-14 days before the class begins.
