Description
Whilst the mythological stories of the Norse don’t go back quite as far as Greek and Roman narratives, there are many interesting correlations and the gods themselves are a fascinating study.
Join us on this 8-week journey through the legends of the Norse, looking at the leading figures, texts, and the ways in which their narratives might both agree and diverge. We’ll also consider the effects of Christianisation on these essentially pagan tales, and delve into a little less well-known figures, such as Ratatoskr, the squirrel of misinformation!
Participants will meet on Zoom, from 18:00-19:30 (UK/Ireland local time) on Wednesday 1st October, 8th October, 15th October, 22nd October, 29th October, 5th November, (no class on 12th November), 19th November, 26th November 2025.
